AHT Welcomes Area Town Leaders

There, Mayor Guy Pilon of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Mayor Jamie Nicholls of Hudson, and Saint-Lazare City Councillors Geneviève Lachance, Richard Chartrand, and Michel Poitras, as well as Michel Lambert of Club Optimiste learned about AHT, our rescued horses, and our A Horse Tale Experience Program. Our members shared what AHT represents and our vision of continuing our outreach to give back to the community through the AHT Experience Program. The program aims to support individuals who have emotional, intellectual, or physical challenges. With the help of special AHT Experience guests led by Director of Equine Contact Carolle Charlebois, the visitors witnessed first-hand the benefits of AHT to not only the rescued horses that pass through the gates, but the two-legged beneficiaries, as well. Farewell Danny

When he first came to us on a rainy day at the end of April, he was wobbly, blind, very underweight, and had poor muscle tone. Despite all this, it was agreed that, if he had any chance, it was at A Horse Tale. We would give him the best care we could to help him. He came to us lost and scared. We all showed him that it was ok to be old, ok not to see well, ok not to be perfect. He was one of us. Over the summer, we saw Danny put on good weight, muscle had returned, and his coat was a shimmering, auburn brown. His weight and demeanour flourished through the loving care of our volunteers. Mister for the Misters and our Mares, too!

It was installed in the new extension our President has been building with money raised from our many fundraisers. The horses are loving taking turns eating in the shade and being misted by cool water. Seen here, our calèche retirees Blanco and Ulysses enjoying breakfast under the refreshing mist, while Balou watches from the shade of the back barn. Saturday and Sunday, all our horses were hosed down by volunteers. Our snow-white Percherons, as well as our 34-year-old Belgian Draft, had to be showered off several times. Goodbye Tara Belle
On the evening of Wednesday, March 7 th , 2018 at the age of 31, our beautiful Palomino Quarter Horse, Tara Belle, stepped over the rainbow bridge to join all our AHT friends who have gone before her. She was calm, trusting and felt neither stress nor pain throughout. Tara Belle taught us so much about how horses can react to sudden change and how they can learn to trust despite it. AHT would like to thank all of our members for giving her the best care and endless unconditional love possible. Saying good-bye is always so difficult. You will be missed Tara Belle.
