Our Barn: A Safe Place for Horses and Humans
You may be surprised at how many requests we receive from horse owners to surrender their horses. It happens for many reasons… financial hardship, sickness, inability to care for their horses… but also from situations where they are not receiving proper care. To date, A Horse Tale has rescued close to 50 horses.
We’re dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable, and loving environment for all horses who come through our gates.
We want to give these horses a second chance. It’s why we do what we do, and we would love it if you would join us on the journey.
Horses and humans are at the core of what we do. We’re supported by a group of over 100 hardworking volunteers led by a team of qualified staff. Our volunteers are committed to the horses and the care that they need. With three feeds per day, seven days per week, and up to five volunteers per feed, we’re a powerful team!
We’re as concerned about our people as we are for the horses – focusing on education, respect, and inclusivity, for both our volunteers and those who visit through our Experience Program.

The Experience Program
Expanding the Circle of Giving Back
Through the Experience Program, A Horse Tale gives back to the community in support of special and specific needs groups. For participants of the program, it provides a unique opportunity for people to interact with our horses in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. We provide guided, small-group interactions with our horses and the opportunity to help with various tasks around the barn.
Too many people are missing out on the positive benefits of working with horses. Horses are empathetic creatures! When you’re in the company of these large sentient beings, you feel calm and present. That’s why we’ve created an environment where humans can connect with them, to promote the well-being and education of both our volunteers and visitors.
When you give, you’re directly helping care for the herd, as well as supporting our volunteers and the communities who benefit from our Experience Program.
