A Story of Horses and Community
People like you make it possible to provide a safe, comfortable, and loving environment for horses that are in need of a second chance, or are just in need of a safe retirement. We promote rehabilitation and, when possible, facilitate re-homing. For some, A Horse Tale remains their forever home.
Wherever a horse comes from — whether they’re sick, haven’t been properly cared for, or their owner can no longer afford to give them a home — when they walk through our gates a new story begins.
As our volunteers will emphatically tell you, it’s a circle of care to give back to the animals who then give back to us. They once served us. Now we are serving them… and they continue to give back through the positive benefits of interaction.

A Horse Tale Rescue Begins Strong
Our story begins in 2012. If you looked around Montreal at the time, you wouldn’t find any options for rescuing horses.
That’s why we stepped in… to satisfy a need in the community, to build an organization on a mission to help save horses in need. Much like other companion animals (cats and dogs), horses depend on humans for their care and wellbeing.
When you join us, you’re becoming a part of a community of approximately 400 members and over 100 volunteers. And together, we are helping horses in need of second chances. We’re also continuously exploring growth opportunities, to:

At A Horse Tale Rescue, our mission is to save as many horses as possible by providing them with the quality of life they deserve, while partnering and sharing the benefits with our community. Through the Experience Program, A Horse Tale Rescue gives back to the community by providing a unique opportunity for people to interact with our horses in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
When you give, you are directly helping care for the herd, as well as supporting our volunteers and the communities who benefit from our Experience Program.
