RIP Macho

RIP Macho

It was with great sadness that A Horse Tale learned about the passing of the first horse that we adopted out, sweet, sweet Macho.

Macho was born in Alberta in 2004 and came to live with his first owner at 8 months old. He was his little girl’s prince and was very loved, but his family moved in 2013 and were unable to take him with them. It was at this time that Macho joined his good friend Buddy at AHT. Macho spent 1 year and 3 months in our care until October of 2014, when he became AHT ‘s first horse ever to be adopted out. His new “mom” became Jackie Maye. Jackie loved and cared for Macho tremendously and gave him his forever home.

In early 2015 it was discovered he had Uveitis and by March 2015, he had lost one eye. Shortly, after the operation life improved for Macho, but in August 2015 his disease started attacking his remaining eye and he started going completely blind. His disease got progressively worse and on Dec 4, 2015 Macho was set free to that great barn in the sky.

Macho will be missed by all those of us at AHT that connected with him during his stay with us, and of course by Jackie and her family.

Rest is peace, sweet Macho.
