Help with hay!

Thanks to many of you, that call was answered, and we received several recommendations for hay and ended up with a great contact… However, this came at a price. $5.75 a bale to be precise – almost twice what we normally pay at 3.50. So…we’re reaching out once again this time asking for help to cover these costs. If you can help, we’d be forever grateful. A day in the country 2016…what a day!
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Our Day in the Country event for 2016 was by far our most organized, fun and cohesive event. All of our members were decked out in our snazzy new red AHT T-shirts, there was signage throughout the farm, all stations had appropriate volunteers with loads of rotation so everyone got a chance to enjoy the event, the food was amazing, the music was great, our hay ride into the cow field was a truly unique up and personal experience with the cows and their babies, the horses were happy, and the people who visited were happy. AHT Day in the Country Media Coverage
Our awesome Day in the Country fundraiser has received some pretty good coverage so far. On Wednesday July 27th, our President (Steve Bilas) and VP (Mike Grenier) were interviewed by Kim Sullivan from Global TV and then today July 29th, our Director of Media & Marketing (Darren Mayoff) was interviewed by Ted Bird from the 106,7 The Jewel Radio station in Hudson. Then, the morning of the event Darren was also interviewed by Dave Fisher of CJAD AM 800. Check out the clips below. AHT at Au Galop
This past weekend on July 2 & 3rd AHT got to spend some time promoting the rescue at Au Galop festival in the town of St.Lazare. The organisers were kind enough to think of us and provide us with our own little booth. The crowds themselves were massive and thanks to to the organizing team of Au Galop, our booth was placed in an excellent location which allowed us the most visibility possible. Loads of people stopped by to ask about our group, where we’re located, what our history is and of course about the horses. Plus we took the opportunity to tell people all about our upcoming “Day in the Country” fundraiser. We even got a surprise visit from St.Lazare mayor Robert Grimaudo who stopped by to say hello. In all, a great time was had. Thank you so much to the organisers of the Au Galop for a great event!
Day in the country raffle!
As part of our 4th annual “Day in the Country” summer fundraiser on July 30th 2016, we’re once again selling raffle tickets…but unlike prior years, for the first year ever, we’re making virtual tickets available online and in person at our barn ahead of the event! Rest in Peace – Big Jim
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text] On June 15, after ongoing medical treatments over the last few months our gentle giant “Big” Jim sadly passed away. Jim had been experiencing various medical issues since November 2015. In April 2016, things took a turn for the worse with several bouts of colic. He was paid numerous visits from our vet, and given constant care from our barn manager and members, but things didn’t improve. Thanks to the generosity of our members, Jim paid his first visit to St.Hyacinthe equine hospital in April of 2016. Jim spent almost 2 weeks there, possibly breaking the record for the number of visits during visiting hours, when he was finally able to come back home to A Horse Tale.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”8897″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”8890″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Jim arrived back to AHT’s barn. AHT AGM 2016…aka, acronyms are great!
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A Horse Tale (AHT) held its Annual General (AGM) meeting today at Zee Grub in Vaudreuil, today, May 15, 2016. As a registered Canadian charity, it’s part of our mandate to hold this meeting once a year to go over the year in review as well as the future of the group. We opened the meeting by thanking Michael from Zee Grub for letting us use his sugar shack to hold the meeting. It was a perfect venue to meet, and provided for a nice cozy atmosphere (with the fire burning) on this cold May day. They have always been very supportive of our group and it was truly appreciated. Then each of the board members went over all that transpired last year, what went well, what didn’t and what’s in store for the future.
