Vernissage and Silent Art Auction

Local artists have been kind enough to donate art to help raise funds for AHT in a vernissage and silent art auction. The silent art auction will take place between 7 and 8 p.m. Artists include Bernard Seguin-Poirier, Michael Litvack, and Caroline Handy, just to name a few. Admission is free and there will be wine, cheese, coffee, and desserts as well as artisan items for sale. There will also be a raffle. AHT at Au Galop
This past weekend on July 2 & 3rd AHT got to spend some time promoting the rescue at Au Galop festival in the town of St.Lazare. The organisers were kind enough to think of us and provide us with our own little booth. The crowds themselves were massive and thanks to to the organizing team of Au Galop, our booth was placed in an excellent location which allowed us the most visibility possible. Loads of people stopped by to ask about our group, where we’re located, what our history is and of course about the horses. Plus we took the opportunity to tell people all about our upcoming “Day in the Country” fundraiser. We even got a surprise visit from St.Lazare mayor Robert Grimaudo who stopped by to say hello. In all, a great time was had. Thank you so much to the organisers of the Au Galop for a great event!

I would like to personally thank you for the most wonderful experience that happened at your fundraiser today. My son Joseph age 5 (well 6 on September 3rd) is autistic. Joseph had a very serious fear of animals. Two years ago a cat could not even go near him without blood-curdling screaming. While we had no pets of our own at the time, to witness this fear in him was heartbreaking. There was no explanation for it, we assumed it to be an autism thing. After much therapy (which I won’t get into), one day while we were on a family vacation in Cuba, Joseph spotted a cat. He asked me if he could go and pet the cat. I smiled…
